Squaw Peak, recently named as Piestewa Peak is one of the highest mountains in the city of Phoenix, Arizona. Its height is around 2608 feet (795 meters) and it is the second highest point in the Phoenix Mountains. Piestewa Peak is named in honor of Army soldier Lori Ann Piestewa, the first Native American woman from the US military who died in combat in the 2003 Iraq Conflict. The peak is surrounded by freeways, neighborhoods and resorts and it is the most popular destinations for a hike in Phoenix.
